Team - Ben Campbell
Mr. Campbell is a native Texan from Mineral Wells. His family built the first cable television system in Texas in 1950. His early career in that industry began in system construction and operations. He built more than 150 cable systems in seven states and owned and operated 23 systems in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Colorado. He served as an officer and director of the Texas Cable Television Association and President and Chairman of  CATA, a national cable television association.
Mr. Campbell moved his cable operations to Denton County in 1973, where he and his wife and four sons lived until 1998.   In 1974, he and his father took their manufacturing company, Tocom, Inc. public.   After selling his Cable Company in 1982, he was involved in sales, banking, electronic manufacturing of cable tv equipment, auto and truck dealerships and the development of  both commercial and residential real estate in the North Texas area. Mr. Campbell was certified as a mediator in 1995, in both family and contract law. He has mediated more than 450 cases, with a 75% settlement rate. Since 1995,  Mr. Campbell has consulted for County and City governments and on healthcare, PEO and TPA issues. He has also represented private companies in the power generating, biotech and health insurance industries
Mr. Campbell began his political career in 1962 as an aide to Senator Tom Creighton, a democrat from Mineral Wells, Texas. He served on Creighton’s re-election staff in 1964, 68 and 72. Mr. Campbell was elected to the Flower Mound city council and served as mayor-protem from 1976 through 1980. Mr. Campbell was elected as Denton County Republican Chairman in 1978. Under Mr. Campbell’s leadership, the Denton County Republican Party elected its first republican State Representative, elected a majority on the Denton County Commissioner’s Court and all but three county elected offices. Mr. Campbell was elected to the Texas Legislature in 1984. He defeated a three-term democrat to represent the northern portions of Denton and Collin Counties from 1984 through 1995. Mr. Campbell served as Vice-Chairman of three House committees and Chairman of the House Committee on County Affairs. Mr. Campbell served on the License and Regulation Committee and was Vice-Chairman of the Calendars Committee. Mr. Campbell continues to remain active in the political process. He has managed more than 50 campaigns since 1996 and presently lobbies for primarily Healthcare clients.
